Every day for the next 5 days (starting Tuesday 23 March 2010 until Saturday 27 March 2010) I will Blog the good, the bad and the ugly of the 5 main UK Political Parties, in alphabetical order (and all in my opinion).
Tuesday: The Conservative Party
Wednesday: The Green Party
Thursday: The Labour Party
Friday: The Liberal Democrats
Saturday: The UK Independence Party
I believe you must never stop questioning your own beliefs, and must allways keep an eye on what your "competition" is doing right and wrong.
The Conservative Party

The Good:
- The Conservative Party as it stands today is the most Eurosceptic Conservative Party ever. Their membership and their leadership is overwhelmingly Eurosceptic, compared to what they have been in the past. Many will claim that The Conservatives are Europhilic, Communist loving, European loving, Croissant munching liers. I think they are probably just a little less militantly Eurosceptic than others, but still fundamentally Eurosceptic.
"A Conservative Government would change the law so that never again would a government be able to agree to a Treaty that hands over areas of power from Britain to the EU without a referendum."
- A vote for The Conservative Party is a vote against the current Labour Party. Lets face it, it will either be Blue or Red at the next election, however much the less established parties try and claim it could be them moving into Westminster. I am in no way saying it is right that we seem to have a 2 Party System. A 2 Party system is one away from a 1 Party System.
- I believe The Conservative Party has achieved something many of the other parties haven't. Modernisation and Brand Recognistion. You may not have stood in awe and admiration when The Conservatives first released their cartoon tree into the Political world, but it has been a success. Their new logo and general design has modernised and refreshed the party to create the image of professionalism and clarity.
The Bad:
- They have failed to really capture and collect the animosity towards The Labour Party and turn that into supporters and future voters. I believe this is partly due to the fact very few normal, non-partisan voters actually know what The Conservative Party is standing for in this election. To me, The Conservative Party doesn't actually seem to be taking this election as seriously as it should do. This is their time to shine and show people what they stand for. Their campaign seems to be more of an Anti-Labour than a Pro-Conservative one. Ofcourse to some extent, the same can be said for The Labour Party and their General Election Campaign.
The Ugly:
- This is the Party of Maggie Thatcher. The iron lady who stole power away from Local Councils and people, and gave it to central Government in Westminster. Maybe Dave would like to explain a bit clearer how he will undo the devestating effects of Thatcher's reign?
Tomorrow I discuss the Good, the Bad and the Ugly of: The Green Party.
