The fear when Lord Pearson got elected as the new Leader of The UK Independence Party was that UKIP would turn into a BNP Lite. Well, it seems that hasn't happened. In fact I would now say that BNP is the watered down version of UKIP.
Lord Pearson has called out for the ultimate ban on the Burka and Niqab:
“We are taking expert advice on how we could do it. It makes sense to ban the burka — or anything which conceals a woman’s face — in public buildings. But we want to make it possible to ban them in private buildings. It isn’t right that you can’t see someone’s face in an airport.”
Sound a bit extreme banning the Burka in Public and PRIVATE places (eg. your home)?
Well it sounds even more extreme when you compare it to the BNP's policy on the Burka:
BNP- Ban the Burka in all Schools.
UKIP- Ban the Burka in all public and private buildings
Lord Pearson: “We are not Muslim bashing, but this is incompatible with Britain’s values of freedom and democracy.”
The value of freedom and democracy is indeed a fantastic value to have, I agree. It is a shame how ignorant and thoughtless his comment is in context to what he is actually saying.
Lord Pearson's personal war on Islam is disgusting and unforgivable. This should not be happening in what was a Eurosceptic, Libertarian leaning Political Party in the 21st Century.

ReplyDeleteMy advice is this - Anyone who doesn't fully support the Party they are members of should resign! Multi racial Britain is not a bad thing - Multi cultural Britain sucks! the trouble with UKIP is this - We have a range of members who just want to get out of the EU - unlike other Parties we have a range of Liberals, labour Voters and Conservatives etc we are not all like minded and as such will never get anywhere until we all put our effoets into the main goal of getting out of the EU - Then you can all bugger off to your own parties where your loyalties really lie! Once we are out you will have "true" labour and so on but until then forget it - no other party is in such a unique position to either succeed or "fuck it right up"! So again - get hold of the rope and pull or bugger off!

Shame that this young man clearly hasn't read the Koran! Have you! You would know that there is no such thing as a "peaceful muslim" and you would therefore do everything that is possible to proscribe this extreme organisation.

Yes Alex, you should read the Qur’an. Read it cover to cover like you would a novel, even if few Muslims study it that way. Take everything in it literally, forget about context, and assume that the peaceful ayahs are all abrogated by the verses that can be interpreted as aggressive. After all, many sages of Qur'anic exegesis insist that this is the case. Others disagree, but don’t listen to them, as you should only pay attention to the scholars whose judgements lend weight to the notion of Islam as a violent religion.
ReplyDeletePerhaps also read some of the Islamophobic sites on the web. Ben no doubt has plenty bookmarked - thankfully for him there’s no shortage of them. All supported, of course, by the way Muslims ritually observe passages such as the oft-cited surah 9, ayah 5 in the most extreme manner possible. Our streets are filled with sword-wielding Muslims try to force us naïve and uneducated disbelievers into reciting the Shahada upon pain of death.
Thank heavens we have educated folk like Ben to protect us. Of course, there is the possibility that he’s just breathtakingly ignorant instead . . .
How the hell is UKIP like BNP? UKIP proposals are fair. UKIP are the only party that have the guts to stand up for British Traditions and Values. You must respect the Law of the land. When you go to dubai or some place, woman have to cover themselves. So over here the Burkha should not be worn.
